What Fixiom can and can't do

With just your phone

• Work a problem in plain English. Describe the symptom or paste a code. Fixiom asks the questions a good mechanic would ask, lays out likely causes with the evidence for and against each, tells you how confident it is, and gives you one next step at a time — not a pile of parts to throw at the car.
• Explain any trouble code — including manufacturer-specific meanings — and flag a code that doesn't belong on your engine (a turbo code on a non-turbo engine gets called out, not explained away).
• Check TSBs and recalls automatically. Every vehicle question is checked against NHTSA technical service bulletins and safety recalls for your exact year, make, and model.
• Look up specs without the guesswork. Oil capacities, torque values, fluids — cross-checked against live sources before Fixiom states them, attributed to your engine and generation. Wheel-end fastener torque (axle nut, hub mounting, lug nut) is answered from SKF's published torque specification guide — a verified figure with attribution, including a heads-up when a nut is one-time-use or has to be staked (crimped) in place.
• Pull the right diagram. Fuse boxes and components — matched to your vehicle's generation. If Fixiom can't verify the diagram is for your generation, it doesn't show it. For wiring diagrams it points you to a search rather than showing a look-alike.
• Read a photo. Send a picture of a part, a connector, a leak — it becomes evidence in the diagnosis.
• Find the right video. When a repair has a good walkthrough on YouTube, Fixiom points you to the search that finds it.
• Talk to Fixiom. Hold the F button — or any mic — and just say it: “pull my codes”, “test my battery”, or any question. Commands run on the spot (destructive ones always confirm on screen first); answers come back out loud in a natural voice. Your first spoken answer is free; the natural voice is included with paid plans.
• Walk away with a clean report. Every concluded diagnosis exports as a tidy PDF — keep it for your records or hand it to a shop. Shops can add their own name and logo.

With a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter (~$25–45, optional — and these features are free forever)

Most standard ELM327 Bluetooth LE adapters — the common ~$25 kind — work on iPhone and Android (classic Bluetooth adapters work on Android; some store-shelf units only talk to their own app — see the adapter buying guide). The scan-tool layer costs nothing, ever — no subscription, no credits:

• Read and clear codes — stored, pending, and permanent.
• Live data with per-vehicle signal catalogs — hundreds of signals on covered vehicles, including ABS and chassis data on some models — with charts, a full-screen drive view, CSV recording, a trip computer, and a 0–60 timer.
• Freeze frame — what the sensors saw at the moment the code set.
• Emissions health — smog-check readiness, plus Mode 06: the engine computer's own self-test results, decoded — per-cylinder misfire counts, catalyst and O2 sensor margins.
• All-module scan — fault codes from the control modules beyond the engine: ABS, airbag/SRS, transmission, body control. It works on vehicles whose modules speak the modern diagnostic language (called UDS) — roughly 2019 and newer, earlier on some brands. Read-only, and a module that doesn't answer is reported as no response rather than guessed at.
• Battery and charging check — a guided voltage test: resting voltage, the cranking dip, and charging output at idle and under load. Voltage-only triage, not a load or capacity test.

During a paid AI diagnosis, the adapter unlocks the part nothing else in this category does: Fixiom can watch the car live. The AI sets a condition worth catching — say, fuel trims (the engine's own fuel correction) climbing past 10% at warm idle — your phone watches for it locally, and the moment it happens the window is captured and the diagnosis updates on real evidence instead of memory.

What Fixiom deliberately won't do

These aren't missing features. They're the point.

• It won't guess a part number. If Fixiom can't verify the part or component identity for your exact vehicle, it says so and routes you to the right catalog or a visual check — because a confident wrong part number costs you money.
• It won't show you the wrong generation's diagram. A plausible-looking fuse map for the wrong generation is worse than no diagram. Unverified means not shown — and it never generates a diagram with AI.
• It won't state a factory spec it didn't verify. Numbers it can't confirm are labeled as needing confirmation, not passed off as gospel.
• It won't pretend to be a factory tool. Fixiom is read-only by design: no bidirectional tests or actuations (commanding parts of the car to move), no key programming, no reprogramming, no flashing — it reads and reasons, nothing else. The all-module scan reaches chassis and body codes on vehicles that speak that modern protocol, but plenty of older modules answer only factory tools, and Fixiom reports an honest “no response” instead of inventing one.
• It won't replace your judgment. Fixiom is a second set of eyes that's fast at lookups and honest about uncertainty. For safety-critical systems — brakes, steering, airbags, fuel — it tells you when a job needs hands-on professional work.

• Hobbyist — $11.99/month (or $119.99/year): 100 credits a month. Sized for someone with a driveway project or two — roughly 4–5 full diagnoses a month, or a lot of quick questions.
• Pro — $29.99/month (or $299.99/year): 250 credits a month, sized for shop flow, with room to run past the cap when a job can't wait.
• Top-ups when you need a bit more: 35 credits for $4.99, 75 for $9.99, 160 for $19.99. Top-up credits never expire.
