How to read the results
Recalls are filed by year, make, and model — so a listed recall means vehicles like yours are affected, not necessarily yours. Whether your exact vehicle is included (and whether the work was already done by a previous owner) is answered by VIN on the manufacturer's recall site, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Have the VIN? Use our VIN decoder — it runs this same check against the decoded vehicle.
Recalls vs. service bulletins
A recall is a safety defect — the manufacturer must fix it free, forever. A technical service bulletin (TSB) is the quieter paper trail: known problems and factory-recommended fixes that aren't safety recalls, so nobody mails you a letter about them. If your car has a known quirk, it's far more likely to live in a TSB than a recall — check the TSB lookup.
